Baghdad - Al-Forat
Decisions from the weekly session of the Council of Ministers led Al-Forat’s main bulletin, which followed the key issues the Council discussed, from services and infrastructure to housing and agriculture, with reports from the channel’s correspondents in Baghdad and the provinces and expert analysis of how the decisions will affect citizens’ lives.
Key decisions
- Approval of the national plan to rehabilitate infrastructure in 18 provinces over three years
- Approval of the distribution of 70,000 residential plots to low-income families in ten provinces
- Securing supplies for the winter agricultural plan and supporting farmers with fertilisers and seeds
- Instructing ministries to process citizens’ transactions online and reduce in-person visits
In a statement to the bulletin, the government spokesman said the Council had given priority to stalled projects and required ministries to submit monthly progress reports, adding that the national infrastructure plan would be presented in detail to provincial governors in the coming days. He said the land would be distributed through a fully electronic process to ensure transparency.
The bulletin included a field report from the outskirts of the capital on families who have waited years for residential plots, and another from the southern provinces on farmers’ needs as the winter growing season begins amid falling water inflows, with several of them calling for services to be delivered faster.
